As previously reported, Ruddington’s motorists are already facing longer and longer delays at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane traffic lights caused by increased traffic volumes unmitigated by delayed junction improvement work there.
Now we’re also being warned about additional hold-ups and disruption this summer due to roadworks scheduled along Loughborough Road and elsewhere in our village – even before this long overdue junction work finally begins.
In June 2023 alone, there’s a week of water pipe renewals on the A60, five days of gas work by The Green and a weekend of mobile mast work along Mere Way. Further disruption is then anticipated in July and August, with temporary lights and road closures thanks to more water and electricity supply work and a return to carriageway patching.
The scheduled Ruddington roadworks most likely to cause problems in the next three months are:-
Monday 5th June 2023 to Friday 9th June 2023 – 09:30 Hours to 15:30 Hours – Two-Way Temporary Traffic Signals on A60 Loughborough Road, near Old Loughborough Road – small PRV renew works by Severn Trent Water.
Thursday 15th June to Monday 19th June 2023 – give and take traffic control for disconnection/alteration of supply on The Green – by Cadent Gas.
Saturday 24th June 2023 & Sunday 25th June 2023 – 08:00 Hours To 18:00 Hours – Four-Way Temporary Traffic Signals on Mere Way at the roundabout with A60 Loughborough Road – Installation of 3 x MIMO Antenna by O2.
Further ahead:-
Monday 3rd July 2023 from 08:00 hours until 17:00 hours on Wednesday 5th July 2023 inclusive – Temporary road closure of Clifton Avenue from its junction with Clifton Road for its full length – for Severn Trent Water pipe repair works.
Wednesday 5th & Thursday 6th July 2023 – closure of Abington Drive for large scale bespoke c/w patching repairs – RETURN VISIT by NCC TO COMPLETE WORK outside nos 4, 5, 6 and 10 – 14 with diversions via Lower Canaan.
Wednesday 30th August 2023 at 8.00am to to Friday 8th September 2023 at 4.00pm – multi-way signals on Loughborough Road near the Kirk Lane junction – utility asset works by National Grid.*
*It’s unclear yet whether the above National Grid work will form part of the announcement expected soon about the long-awaited S278 improvement works at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane junction – with ‘Phase 1’ finally expected to begin this summer.
Additionally, from the 27th July to 31st August, National Grid will be carrying out utility asset works on St Mary’s Crescent, Rufford Road and Easthorpe Street with temporary traffic lights also in use.
Looking ahead to next year, National Highways has announced the long planned major roadworks to enlarge both the Nottingham Knight Island and Wheatcroft Island on the A52 should begin in September 2024. Find more details >>HERE<<.
Residents and visitors should anticipate delays and diversions for motorists, and also for passengers using Kinchbus 9, Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 & Green 10/10C/10X buses and the NottsBus Connect Service 863 during these roadworks.
RUDDINGTON.info will bring you details of further village roadworks as we receive them.
